Nathalie Chiasson
Biography
She seeks to spark a genuine emotion. Her artworks ignite the imagination, create a sense of belonging, and bring forth the stories we all hold inside.
A SENSE OF BELONGING
Nathalie Chiasson’s creative sensitivity emerged in the late 1970s, following a decisive encounter with artist painter Silvia Araya. From that moment on, she felt a deep calling for artistic expression. Thus, she explored fashion design, visual arts, and illustration. Over time, she worked in various fields related to art and teaching. Gradually, she decided to dedicate herself entirely to her artistic practice.
Today, Nathalie creates with a clear purpose: to touch people. Indeed, her work acts as a spiritual mirror that awakens memories, desires, and imagination. Her favorite themes reflect personal stories, symbols, objects, and everything that fosters a sense of belonging. Moreover, she is recognized for her thematic interpretations of fine wine bottles and luxury objects.
Thanks to a unique style that is both rustic and contemporary, Nathalie transforms her subjects into rich, textured artworks. First, she prepares the canvas with a crackled texture reminiscent of sculpted surfaces. Next, she layers coffee washes and deep coats of acrylic. Then, she applies glossy resin and highlights certain details with raised gold accents. Thus, this process gives her paintings a strong, timeless presence.
Her artworks are now showcased in several prominent galleries across Canada. In addition, Nathalie has received numerous awards supporting her solo exhibitions, group shows, and collaborations with artistic agencies. Finally, many of her paintings are part of private, corporate, and public collections.
